Who can apply for a Social CNH?
Currently, the Social Driver's License is not available throughout Brazil. Its free issuance depends on specific legislation in each state, that is, the citizen must reside in a state that has implemented the program.

Criteria for request
The CNH Social program is aimed at low-income citizens, aiming to provide greater social inclusion and employment opportunities. To register, the interested party must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old;
- Be literate;
- Have a per capita family income of up to half the minimum wage or up to three minimum wages;
- Be registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico);
- Being unemployed;
- Be a resident of the state where the program is offered.
Tiebreaker rules
As the number of places available for the Social Driver's License is limited, when the number of applicants exceeds the available amount, Detran carries out a tiebreaker process based on the following criteria:
- Families with a larger number of members;
- Bolsa Família beneficiaries;
- Applicants with lower per capita income;
- Date and time of registration.
How to request?
Registration must be done exclusively through the official website of the participating state's DMV. Avoid accessing advertisements or unofficial links that request personal information or any type of payment, as the program is completely free. Important information
The CNH Social program covers all stages of the qualification process, from theoretical and practical classes to physical and psychological aptitude exams. In addition:
- If the candidate does not pass the first test, there is the possibility of taking the exam again;
- The program offers qualification for categories A (motorcycle) and B (car);
- It is possible to add other categories, such as C (tractors and trucks), D (vehicles for more than 8 passengers) and E (vehicles with a trailer weighing more than 8 tons).
